Harry Lysaght Hangs Up Boots
Harry Lysaght, one of the finest volunteers Manawatu Rugby League and MRL Referee's association has ever seen has hung up his whistle and duties in the Manawatu.
For more than 20 years Harry has refereed Rugby League with six of those years being in the Manawatu. Harry has helped lead the Referee's association into becoming one of the best referees organisations in the country. From being the MRLRA Chairman, Secretary, District Coordinator and Referee, Harry did it all.
This year he was one of three finalist for the match official of the year official of the year at the New Zealand Rugby League awards. Again highlighting the fact that we had one of the best in NZ among our community.
On behalf of the Manawatu Rugby League board, clubs, players and administrators we would like to wish Harry and his family all the best as they relocate to Canterbury. His service to the Rugby League community was like no other and has left big shoes to fill.
Harry's outstanding contribution to the game was recognized with a small presentation from the MRL District Manager, Sanjay Patel and new MRL Referees Association Chairman, Hone Nikora-Davis.
